Game 3 of the Kyla Kowalik Tournament
Wow what an exciting game to watch! The Wolverines made us proud today. We played the Flamborough Falcons in a hard fought nail biter of a game. Michaela Baker played an outstanding game in net. The girls were determined to win as this was a quarter final do or die match. The game was tied at the end of the first 0-0. Flamborough opened the scoring in the second period at 6:40. The Wolverines came back to tie it up at 5:27 with a goal by Kirsten Bolding assisted by Ravynn Livy and Rachel Gruhl. Then in the third period the tie remained until there was 59 seconds left in the game when Flamborough scored.
The Flamborough team called a time out and the Wolverines pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. Then the Wolverines called their timeout and readjusted their lines took the faceoff and scored with 14.6 seconds left in the game. Off to OT! The overtime was 4 on 4 for 5 minutes. It was exciting to watch and the Wolverines drew a penalty late in the OT so it went to 4 on 3. Next was the shootout. 5 shooters for each team had been chosen prior to the game. All 5 needed to shoot to determine a winner. Unfortunately our Wolverines came up short and lost the game. Way to go Wolverines!
