Wolverines Split Weekend
Written by Lori Spoltore

The Wilmot Wolverines Novice B girls had a busy week with four games resulting in three wins and a loss.  The team now sits in first place just ahead of the Grand River Mustangs in their division.

The Wolverines had a great game against the Waterloo Ravens and won 5-0.  Scorers were from all three lines and the passing was terrific.  The Wolverines lost a close one to a fast-skating team from Woodstock.  Wilmot led the scoring in the game with a beautiful shot by Lauren Bast, where Jenna Kumpf grabbed the rebound and knocked it in.  Carson Weiler did a brilliant job in net as goalie, and Sydney Knorr joined the Wolverines to help cover for players away.  Tremendous hustle and hard work from the defense Kayla Schenk, Alysha Latyn and Jadyn Calder who was also the player of the game.  The Wolverines had many scoring opportunities, but just missed and came up short.  Weiler made some amazing saves and demonstrated true confidence.  With one league game to go, the girls anticipate an exciting run in play downs at a possible shot at Provincials.  Go Wolverines!
