Novice B Wolverines Running to Provincials
The Wilmot Wolverine Novice B team is on a tear, and looking forward to a berth at Provincials in April after a great round robin run.  This group of young ladies possesses talent, determination and above all, heart.  Coached by an extremely dedicated team of parents, the Wolverines have had an outstanding season with over 20 wins, and anticipate a strong performance at both Provincial finals, and possibly League Championships if they continue on the path they are on.

In the four games the Wolverines played last week, the girls ended up with three wins and a loss.  The team defeated Waterloo 5-2, Cambridge 3-1, and Woodstock 3-2, but lost to Kitchener 3-2.  All three forward lines are contributing to the scoring but special mention to Sierra Egli and Mikayla O'Connell who have been burying the puck as of late.  Carson Weiler, Jenna Kumpf and Emily Hussey are offensive threats for the team and continue to be strong skaters who can carry the puck to the net.  The line of Paige Carter, Kumpf and Lauren Bast show great determination and their skill set continues to improve as they rely on each other and pass the puck with confidence.  Lindsay Slessor and Paige Jurica are gaining confidence in their game, and working hard to dig in the corners and sit out in front of opposing goalies.  Kara Mark continues to be extremely strong for the Wolverines in net, and her glove saves are improving, as well as her movement in the crease.  Likely one of the strongest assets the team has is the tremendously hard working defensive players Jayden Calder, Kayla Schenk, Madison McCormick and Alisha Latyn.  These four girls are excellent skaters and tough in the game.  They get their bodies in the way to help clear the puck and cover for their goalie.  The team has great depth and are eager to learn more.  The win against Woodstock was the first in a three game series toward league play-offs.  The Wolverines continue the series this weekend playing Woodstock on Friday.  Go Wolverines!
