North Halton Twisters Fall Classic
The Wilmot Wolverines Novice Local League 2 team took part in the North Halton Twisters Fall Classic Tournament this past weekend. The team started strong in their first game against North Halton Black. Claire Weinacht scored 4 goals, Emmie Fronchak and Olivia Burns scored two and Kasey Livingstone and Raelyn Cook scored 1 goal each in this 10-3 victory. Audrey Montag kept the offense going with a couple of scoring chances of her own in this win. Olivia Burns and Faith Appleton had the only assists recorded on the score sheet. Olivia Patte rounded out the offensive line that recorded three points in the win.

The Wolverines posted another big victory in their second game against North Halton Orange. Ada Bender, Raelyn Cook and Claire Weinacht all recorded hat tricks and Olivia Burns helped with a single goal as the team went on to a 10-0 victory. Tori Burchatzki, Bronwyn Brietenstein, Paige Yoworski, Emily Friendorf, Ada Bender, Raelyn Cook and Faith Appleton recorded assists and Juliana Baptie stood strong in net for the shutout. The teams biggest challenge of the round robin came against North Halton Grey. Ada Bender scored first for the Wolverines and Paige Yoworski’s goal added to the lead making it 2-0 for Wilmot. North Halton Grey would eventually tie the game at two by the mid point of the second period but Claire Weinacht’s goal with 35 seconds remaining in the second period would be the difference as the Wolverines went on for the 3-2 win. The Wolverine defense, including Aziza Pringle, did a great job of keeping the puck in the offensive zone at the end of the game and that was one of the reasons why the team was able to hold on for this close victory.
