The
Wilmot Wolverines LL2 team travelled to Don McLaren Arena this past Saturday to
face the Kitchener Pandas with the winner earning a spot in the A pool
final. These two teams had many hard fought battles this season with the
Pandas winning two of the three games. The Pandas would take a 1-0 lead in this
game before Claire Weinacht scored (assisted by Raelyn Cook) to tie the game at
1-1. The defensive crew made up of Kasey Livingstone, Olivia Burns,
Claire Weinacht and Emmie Fronchak did a great job of limiting the oppositions
scoring chances while Aziza Pringle stood strong between the pipes down the
stretch. Regulation would end up a 1-1 tie and put the game into
shootouts.
The Pandas took a 1-0 lead in the shootouts before Ada Bender fired one past the goaltender to tie it up. With the game in sudden death shootouts, Raelyn Cook ended the game by deking out the Panda’s goaltender and putting the puck in the back of the net.
