Arends Unstoppable for Atom C
Brianna Arends had an outstanding game against a team from West Seneca this past weekend.  In the Wolverine 5-2 win over their friends from the USA, Arends cashed with four points; two goals on amazing, speedy breakaways, an assist, and credit for the last touch on a goal deflected off of the Seneca defense.  Arends has endless energy and works tirelessly back-checking each and every shift.

Another major highlight of the day was Abbey Daer's performance with two brand, spanking-new goals - her first and second goals for the year.  Daer is versatile as she plays defense for the Wolverines, but as of late she has been added to the winger position which paid off against Seneca.  With two braids in her hair before the game, she said, "Well, I am going to score a goal today."  After the game, teammate Lindsay Slessor said, “Maybe you should put three braids in your hair tomorrow.”

In their game against Twin Centre on Sunday, the Wolverines succumbed to the much-improved Herricanes.  Kara Mark was excellent as the Herricane goalie and stoned Carson Weiler on a breakaway shot with a magnificent glove save.  The Wolverines dominated the play for most of the game, keeping it in their opponent’s end, but could not find the back of the Twin Centre net.  Solo scorer Kate Baumgart went for a skate and fired a shot high over Mark’s head to keep the game interesting, but the Herricanes defeated the Wolverines 3-1.  The teams will match up again this week on Wednesday at 5:30 pm at WRC, and also on Friday morning at the Orillia Hawks tournament.  GO WOLVERINES!
