Wolverines Tie in Brantford
The Atom C Wolverines had an early morning tilt in Brantford and were able to leave with a tie 1-1 after a hard-fought battle on the road. Brantford took the lead early on, and Wilmot had to work hard to come from behind. Their determination, and perseverance shooting at the net paid off in the end.
Wilmot dominated the play and kept the puck in the Brantford end with many face-offs won by Maddie Stainer-Mace, but terrific goaltending kept getting in the way of the Wolverine shots. Defensewomen Kate Baumgart and Julia James played physical games, while Avery Vance's powerful skating helped to keep the puck out of Alisha Latyn's end. Carson Weiler, Sierra Egli and Briana Arends provided the Wolverines with shots and scoring opportunities but it was late in the second period when Leah Wagler knocked one in (assists to Weiler and Tia DeRuiter). Consistent hustle and hard work from Lindsay Slessor and Abby Daer. The Wolverines take on Woolwich and Twin Centre this week in their play-downs. GO WOLVERINES!
