Wolverines Provincial Hopes Dashed
A tough tie versus the Brantford IceCats ended the Provincial hopes of the Wilmot Wolverine Atom C team as the game ended 0-0.  Brantford, Twin Centre and Wilmot all tied with 8 points in the round robin series, but due to tie breaking procedures, Twin Centre will take the provincial spot in Ottawa come April.  The Wolverines wish the Hericanes good luck on their venture.

In the battle with Brantford, the Wolverines gave it their all and tried their best, keeping the packed crowd entertained and hopeful, down to the final seconds of the game.  Focused net-minder Alisha Latyn was pulled in a last minute effort to have another Wolverine attacker on the ice.  Brantford was resilient and quick, keeping on top of the play at all times, though the Wolverines dominated in the Brantford end and had several scoring opportunities.
Lindsay Slessor had a terrific shot on net which the IceCat goalie scooped out of the air.  Maddie Stainer-Mace and Leah Wagler continued to fire at the net with unlucky bounces and shin pads in the way.  Tremendous effort from Abby Daer, Avery Vance and Tia DeRuiter.  Kate Baumgart continued to be solid for the Wolverines with her wicked shot from the point, and Julia James showed great game sense as a defensive player.  Carson Weiler was tough in the corners; Brianna Arends and Sierra Egli were always in the play.
The Wolverines will now prepare for the Lower Lakes Championship Weekend March 22-24th in Mississauga.  Special thanks to the Atom B team for supporting the girls, and the many family and friends who came to cheer them on.
