Wolverines Holding Their Own
Another win under the belts for the Wilmot Wolverines as they beat Brantford on the weekend 3-1.  The team is doing very well versus other C centres, and holding their own against the stronger B teams in their loop.  The girls see those games as an opportunity to learn, and to become stronger as a unit.

In the game against Brantford, at the beautifully designed Gretzky Sports Centre, the Brantford Ice Cats came out flying in the first period and scored a gorgeous goal to get on the board.  The Wolverines knew they needed to get to work, and soon worked hard to attain control of the game.  Leah Wagler scored for the Wolverines after a beautiful pass from birthday girl Maddie Stainer-Mace.  Wagler cashed again after Tia DeRuiter knocked one on to her stick and the girls took the lead.  Alisha Latyn made a couple of critical saves and she continues to improve her skills each game.  Carson Weiler had the third goal of the game after the puck was loose in front, and Sierra Egli assisted her as she is always tough in front of the net.  Brianna Arends was outstanding again as she hustles continuously and was player of the game at the end.  Strong defensive action came from Kate Baumgart and Abby Daer.  The Wolverines will take on the Kitchener Lady Rangers this Wednesday at 5:30 pm at WRC.
