Working Hard - Getting Tougher
The Wilmot Wolverines Atom C team worked hard in practise this week improving their skill set.  They also had a team building night selling Mint Smoothies and worked as a team selling treats to the fans of the Firebirds.  The result of that hard work and teamwork showed a terrific win against a quick team from Brantford 3-1.  Although the team is enjoying success, they too are learning and taking their lumps as they play strong teams from the B loop in their shared division.  The Wolverines lost 7-1 to a very skilled team from Grand River, though the score was not indicative of their efforts.

In the game versus Brantford, Leah Wagler was on fire with a three point game.  Madison Stainer-Mace and Sierra Egli led the pack as they skated like mad end to end and showed tremendous effort.  Goals for the Wolverines were scored by Stainer-Mace (from Wagler and Lindsay Slessor), Wagler on her own with a great shot on net, and Wagler from Carson Weiler.  Alisha Latyn made tremendous saves to keep the Wolverines in the game.  Also, consistent play from Kate Baumgart and Julia James who were outstanding on 'd'.

In the game versus the Grand River Mustangs, the girls stayed right in the game with the fast-skating, skilled Mustangs and gave it their all.  Tia De Ruiter popped one in for the Wolverines and the fans were thrilled.  Avery Vance and Abby Daer were terrific pinching in on defence, and excellent hustle from Weiler, Slessor and Egli.  Brianna Arends never stops moving and truly makes things happen for Wilmot.  Once this team masters the use of the boards, and better passing skills, they will be unstoppable.  The heart and determination they are showing as of now is very indicative of a very successful season.

Go Wolverines!!
