Wolverines Sweep Woolwich
The Wilmot Wolverines Atom C team had a very successful run against their opponents from Woolwich as they played the team back to back, both games in Elmira's Dan Snyder Memorial Arena.  The Wolverines won 2-0 and 2-1 against a much improved Woolwich team.

In both games, hard-working and high-flying Brianna Arends was key.  Arends never stops moving and she makes plays happen.  She assisted Sierra Egli's goal in game one, and was critical in back checking for the Wolverines.  Leah Wagler scored the second goal with a beautiful shot on net.  Kate Baumgart and Avery Vance were also critical in the game as they play very aggressive hockey and are tough at the blue line.  Abby Daer and Julia James are amazing at stepping up to pinch in the offensive zone, and James is beginning to throw shots at the net from the blue line.  The D is progressing and getting tougher, keeping shots away from their goalie Alisha Latyn.

In game two, Lindsay Slessor flipped one in after a perfect face-off draw by Carson Weiler who assisted the goal. The most exciting part of the night was when the high winds of the local storm made the power in the arena go out, and the girls stood in the darkness waiting for the generators to kick in.  Then the lights returned, the Wild came back to score a goal and tie up the game much to the delight of the hometown crowd.  Tia DeRuiter and Madison Stainer-Mace worked hard to back-check and were very effective digging in the corners.  Slessor knocked one in again after Arends caused the puck to be loose out front.  The Wolverines secured another win in the column and were thrilled.

Good luck to the Wolverines on the weekend as they take on Brantford and Grand River.
