Atom LL's Participate in Kyla Kowalik Tournament
The Atom LL's played 3 games over the weekend, as they participated in the annual Kyla Kowalik Tournament held at the Wilmot Rec Center

The Wolverines faced the Twin Centre Hericanes in their first game of the tournament. The game started well for the Wolverines, with the game remaining scoreless for most of the first period. However, late in the first the Hericanes got on the board, after a scramble in front of goaltender Eva C. The Hericanes took a 2-0 lead shortly after that, and went on to win the game. Some good defensive plays were made, by Julia S. and Kya G. The Wolverines also had a few scoring opportunities by Veronica B. and Grace B., however the Hericanes earned the shut-out. Wolverines player of the game was awarded to Julia P., who played one of her best games so far this season.

Later in the day, the Wolverines faced the Waterloo Raven's #3 in Game 2 of the round-robin. The Wolverines were pumped and played one of their best games all season. The Ravens got on the board early with one goal, but for the remainder of the game neither team scored. It was a great team effort by the Wolverines with special mention to Selyna B. and Molly F. who played great defensively, as well as Sykora W, who showed a strong offensive effort. Forward Rachel E. had a few scoring chances as well. Goaltender Eva C. made some stellar saves to keep the Ravens scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Player of the game went to Sykora W.  It was an excellent effort by the Wolverines against the first place team in the league.

In the third game, the Wolverines played host to the Tillsonburg Lightening. The Wolverines were able to keep their opponents off the scoreboard through the first and second, despite a few close calls. However, late in the third, the Lightening were able to sneek one past the Wolverines' goaltender. The game ended with the victory going to Tillsonburg. Isabelle B. showed a good effort, as did defense Maeve C. and forwards Jessica B. and Sequoia P.  Player of the game went to Grace B., who played through an injury and had a few good scoring opportunities.

The Wolverines finished the tournament by participating in the skills competition. Representing Wilmot Atoms were Madison D (stick control), Eva C (goaltender), Rachel E (shooting) and Grace B (skating). All 4 girls represented well, with their teammates, coaches and parents cheering them on loudly.

The Wolverines will begin the second half of their season on January 17th against Milverton.
