Atom LL's Collect Win over Kitchener Lions
The Atom LL Wolverines earned a victory in their home game last night against the Kitchener Lions.
It was a full house at the WRC, with fans hoping to see the Wolverines pick up an important win.
The two teams played a scoreless first period, despite some good scoring chances for both teams. It wasn't until 3 minutes into the second period that the Wolverines got on the board when a great shot from Veronica B. caught the corner of the net, to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead.
That lead would hold for the most of the game, as both teams continued to have many scoring opportunities but neither could capitalize on their chances. Then, with under 2 minutes remaining, the Wolverines' Rachel E. increased the lead to 2 goals, with a terrific shot that sailed past the Lions' goalie.
The Wolverines enjoyed their 2-0 victory, however are looking forward to their 2 remaining regular season games, both against Kitchener teams.
Wolverines players of the game were awarded to Sykora W. and Sequoia P., both who played great to help their team take the victory.
Special mention to our two novice team call-ups Olivia B. and Kasey L., who were strong on the point and prevented many Kitchener scoring chances.
