Atom LL's Face Cambridge Roadrunners White
The Atom LL Wolverines faced the pool-leading Cambridge Roadrunners White on Sunday, in their second meeting in as many games.
Cambridge took an early lead, with a goal scored midway through the first period. They then jumped to a 3-0 lead early in the second period, with two more goals.
The Wolverines answered with a great goal from Rachel E. (assisted by Julia P.) to cut the Roadrunners lead to 2 goals. However, Cambridge continued their offensive attack with 2 more goals before the end of the second, to take a 5-1 lead.
The first half of the third period didn't not result in any goals for either team. However, midway through the third, the Wolverines showed some determination to collect 2 more goals. Rachel E. scored her second goal of the game from Julia S. and Veronica B. scored unassisted, again cutting the Roadrunners lead to 2.
With under 2 minutes remaining, the Wolverines pulled goaltender Eva C. in an attempt to close the Roadrunners lead. Unfortunately, time ran out and the result was a 5-3 victory for the Roadrunners.
Wolverines players of the game were awarded to goaltender Eva C. who played outstanding, despite the 5 goals the Roadrunners collected. Offensive player of the game went to Rachel E. for her two terrific goals.
