Wolverines Participate in Winter Chill Tournament
The Novice LL Wolverines enjoyed a great team-building experience over the weekend by participating in the Flamborough Falcons Winter Chill Tournament.

The Wolverines played three games in the round robin and ended up third overall.

In an early first game, the Wolverines faced the Flamborough Falcons #2. The Falcons came out skating and had the Wolverines on their heels a bit, however the game remained scoreless through one period. The Wolverines picked up the pace in the second and Claire W. was able to sneak the first goal past the Falcons goalie late in the second. Assist went to Megan P.

The Falcons answered with a late second period goal and another in the third period. The Wolverines kept fighting and with time ticking down, Rachel E. was able to tie the score with 7.8 seconds left and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Later that day, the Wolverines played their second game against the Oakville Hornets. The Hornets were a fast skating team. The Wolverines fought hard all game and didn't let up on their efforts. Unfortunately the Hornets offense was too much for the Wolverines and the game ended in 7-3 loss for the Wolverines. Scoring for the Wolverines were Rachel E. and Megan P (2). Assist's went to Sykora W. and Ada B.

Game three against the Flamborough Falcons #1 was another exciting game. Both teams were very evenly matched. The Falcons scored first but the Wolverines answered with a late first period goal going to Ada B. Neither team scored in the second period. In the third, the Falcons scored again. However, in another exciting finish, Rachel E. scored to tie the game with just over 2 minutes left.

The Wolverines then headed to the semi finals where they faced the Oakville Hornets again. The Wolverines gave 100% the entire game and had some good scoring chances. Unfortunately, the Hornets offense played another strong game and handed the Wolverines a tough loss.

The girls can be very proud of their efforts in all 4 of the games. Our defensive team of Kasey L., Claire W. Taylor M., Emmie F. Maeve C. and Olivia B. played very well against some very talented opponents. Our forwards Grace M., Raelyn C. , Ada B., Sykora W., Rachel E., Megan P., Kya G. and Isabelle B. showed some excellent speed and fought hard to get many scoring chances.  Eva C. faced a lot of shots from our opponents and made some great saves.

The weekend was a great team-building experience for everyone and the girls can be proud of their efforts.
