Shoot Out Win for Novice LL's in Semi Finals
The Wolverine Novice LL's played an exciting semi-final game against the first place Woolwich Wild on Sunday.
The Wolverines came out skating hard in the first period and had some great scoring chances. They kept pace with the fast-skating Wild and didn't allow them many scoring chances. At the end of the first the game remained scoreless.
The fast pace continued in the second period. The Wild were finally able to get one on the board but soon after, the Wolverines tied the score with an unassisted goal from Rachel E. At the end of two periods, the score was tied.
The Wild took the lead again in the third with an early goal. However, coming from behind again, the Wolverines tied the score with just over 2 minutes left. Scoring again was Rachel E., unassisted.
At the end of regulation time, the score remained tied so a shoot out was needed.
Rachel E, Claire W, Grace M, and Sykora W. all took great shots in the shoot out, but unfortunately could not get past the Wild goalie. Maeve C. finally scored for the Wolverines. The final shooter for the Wild was stopped by goalie Eva C., to give the Wolverines the win and move them forward to the finals.
Eva C. in net made some amazing saves throughout the game. In particular, during the shoot out, she was fantastic, stopping all of the Wild shooters.
Congratulations to all the girls and coaches on your win. You all played amazing and showed some great team spirit! It was a very exciting game to watch and you can all be proud of your accomplishment!
