The Wolverine Atom LL's played a hard fought game against the Ayr Rockets #1 tonight. Despite coming away with a loss, the Wolverines showed a great offensive effort.
After playing a scoreless first period, Wilmot took the lead early in the second. Scoring for the Wolverines was Sykora W., after receiving a great pass in front of the net from Jayden D. Also assisted by Faith A. However, the Rockets answered back quickly, with a goal less than a minute later.
Sykora W. again put the Wolverines in the lead, firing another past the Rockets goaltender, on an excellent pass from Faith A. But, within two minutes, the game was tied again after the Rockets picked up their second goal of the game.
Early in the third period, Ada B. picked up the Wolverines third goal of the game, on a great breakaway shot, assisted by Natasha H. The Rockets found the net again as well, with a power play goal to tie the game at 3. And with under two minutes to play in the game, the Rockets were able to sneak one more into the net to claim the victory.
The Wolverines team played extremely well the entire game and can be proud of their efforts. Goaltender Kasey L. made many excellent saves and had great support in front of her, both defensively and offensively. The Wolverines hope to pick up some more goals in their remaining 4 games of the season. Good luck Wilmot!!
