The Atom LL's recently took part in the annual Jason Cripps Memorial Tournament, held Dec 27th-30th, and came away with two ties and a loss.

In their first game of the tournament, the Wolverines faced the Kitchener Lady Rangers Blue, in their first meeting since the North Halton Twisters Tournament. Similar to their previous meeting, it was a close game with both teams getting some great scoring opportunities. Wolverines' goaltender Kristen S. made some key saves and was awarded the Wolverines' player of the game. The game ended in a scoreless tie.

Next the Wolverines met a strong Ayr Rockets #2 team. After falling behind 4-0 after 2 periods, the Wolverines rallied in the third period. Jayden D. scored 2 beautiful goals, both assisted by Allison A., to start the offensive attack. Emmie F. also assisted on Jayden's first goal. Ada B. picked up the Wolverines third goal, assisted by Sykora W. Ayr was able to add one more goal in the third to maintain the lead. However, Maeve C. brought the Wolverines within 1 goal, during a scramble in front of the net. During the last few minutes, the Wolverines pulled the goaltender and came very close to tying the game, however just fell short, with the game ending in a 5-4 loss for the Wolverines. Player of the game for the Wolverines was Ada B., who showed some great back-checking throughout the game.

Game 3 saw the Wolverines matched up against the Grand River Mustangs #1. It was another intense game, with both teams putting in a tremendous effort both offensively and defensively. Wolverines goaltender Kasey L. made many outstanding saves against the Mustangs. In the final minutes, the Wolverines put the pressure on the Mustangs goaltender as well, but could not find the back of the net. The score again ended in a 0-0 tie, resulting in the Wolverines just falling short of making it into the semi-final game. Wolverines player of the game was Kya G., who was consistently strong on the blue line.

The Wolverines will participate in the Kyla Kowalik tournament this coming weekend before beginning the second half of the season.
