Orillia Tournament -Best Hockey So Far
Awesome job this weekend in the Orillia Tournament girls. All the coaches and parents are very proud of how well you played. One thing everyone associated with the team has learned about this group is: They never quit !!
It was proven again on the weekend. In the first game trailing Sudbury 1-0 after two periods, the girls stormed back and took a tough 3-2 win. Three different goal scorers chipped in. The second round robin game resulted in a solid 3-0 win against West Nippising. In the semi finals, the team again found themselves trailing 1-0 , but kept battling HARD and then HARDER, before being rewarded with a 2-1 victory. Bailey made a great save on a penalty shot when were down 1-0 which was the TSN turning point. The win advanced the Wolverines into the finals against Orillia. In the final game, the team surrendered a goal with only 7 minutes left in the third, but dug DEEPER to once again get the equalizer, and send the game into overtime. Despite dominating the 5 minute overtime, we could not find that elusive winning goal so the Championship was to be decided with a shootout. Unfortunately, the shootout was not kind to us and we came up just short of getting the Championship Trophy. Its a rotten way to lose no matter how you spin it, but it was a new experience that will make us even stronger as we get ready for our playoff run.
