We're number two... we're number two... I was very impressed with our team's reaction after losing the final game against Lucan. Needless to say things didn't end like we had planned, and full credit to Lucan who is a very strong team, but what I liked was that the girls never quit, stayed positive, and played hard right til the end. In the dressing room afterwards there was little disapointment or regret as the team knew they had worked as hard as they could, and accepted defeat gracefully. Win or lose, playing teams like Lucan and South Huron will only benefit us as we continue to improve and grow as a team.
Some of the things that stood out for me on the weekend: Sarah K. scoring 21 seconds into our first game against South Huron to set the tone for the game and the rest of the weekend. Bailey and Zoey saving our bacon in game two of the round robin against Lucan. Our strong D pinches and step ups in the neutral zone. Our F1's and F2's being on fire in our game against Kincardine. Jessie's goal line stand, also against Kincardine.( Still not sure that shouldn't have been a penalty shot!) Katie and Emily's big goals against South Huron in the semis. Caitlyn and Meghan fighting through exhaustion to stay strong and help our D battle in our defensive zone against Lucan in the finals. We cetainly can take a lot of positives from this weekend. Great job Wolverines.
