IMPORTANT UPDATE: Entering the WRC
Submitted By WGHA on Wed 12 15, 21
Important message from the Township of Wilmot

Please read the following notice to be aware of the changes being made regarding proof of vaccination for entering the Wilmot Recreation Complex.

Further to the Provincial announcement from Friday afternoon, the Township of Wilmot wants to make you aware of some changes to Proof of Vaccination that may affect participants / parents / spectators:

The requirements to provide proof of vaccination is being extended beyond January 17, 2022 which was the original timeline aligned with the reopening plan that stipulated that doing so was contingent on the absence of concerning trends.

Effective January 4, 2022, the use of the enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code is required to enter the building and use of the Verify Ontario app in settings where proof of vaccination is required will be used.

The QR code can be used digitally (on your phone) or by printing a paper copy. Individuals can download their enhanced certificate and QR code by visiting https://covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine/.

Instructions for how to save it to your phone are on the website. Printed copies of original lists of vaccination dates without the QR code will no longer be accepted. Organizations and businesses including the WRC, that are under the provincial proof-of-vaccination system, will no longer accept physician notes as of January 10, 2022.

Effective December 20, 2021, proof of vaccination for youth aged 12 to 17 years is required to participate in organized sports at recreational facilities. This includes participation in swimming lessons, recreational swims, ice sports and recreational programs offered by the Township. If your child ages 12-17 is registered in a Township program and is not fully vaccinated, please contact the WRC to cancel your registration.

This means that all team staff and players (12 and over), in addition to parents and spectators, must provide proof of vaccination, identification and complete the COVID screening when entering the building as of December 20th.

You CANNOT bypass the screening at the entry due to being on a NHHA or WGHA or Aces swim team etc. Please be aware that the additional vaccination checking may result in some delays getting everyone into our facilities.

Please be sure your child has a copy of their vaccination certificate with the QR code and identification with them each time they attend the WRC. A photocopy or picture of the identification is acceptable.

Thanks for your continued understanding and patience.
