2023/24 Wilmot Wolverines Award Recipients
The Wilmot Wolverines Girls Hockey Association recently handed out their annual awards during the association's coach and volunteer appreciation night at the Puddicombe House. The award descriptions and recipients are below.

Jr Kowalik Player of the Year

She demonstrates a high degree of dedication to her team by attending virtually all practices
and games. She is a valuable offensive and defensive , who exemplifies the ‘pursuit of
excellence’. She is a team player who plays the game with respect for all, and demonstrates a
high degree of sportsmanship at all times.

Nomination: Liilian is a success story from our goaltender initiative. She attended our goaltender
clinics and received some loaner goalie equipment and switched between playing goalie and
forward switching with her teammate. When the other goalie broke her thumb this person
stepped in and had a goals against average under one for that series of games.

Recipient: Lillian Pyette

She played Local League for several years and transitioned into the rep program in her teens
and has grown to be a strong leader of our top tier U18BB team. This person exemplifies all the
values of a player deserving of this recognition. She is a strong 2 way player and is often
counted on in key situations. Her work ethic and drive to succeed is infectious. She shows up
for every practice and game with a positive attitude.

Recipient: Jayden Dolbeck

Volunteer of the Year

This award is given out annually to someone who has contributed countless hours of volunteer
activity towards the activities of the WGHA. Someone who works tirelessly with no expectation
of receiving recognition for their efforts. This may be anyone who has helped with the
organization.

Nomination: This person is deserving of this award as he has helped out with two teams this year, U9B and
U13C. He is fantastic with the players and does a great job of giving positive feedback as well
as taking opportunities for teaching moments to ensure the development of the girls. He is
patient with the girls and can often be seen working one on one with players during practices
helping them to get better and work on a skill they may struggle with.

Recipient: Andrew Day

Leadership Award

The Leadership Award is given out annually to someone who has provided
exemplary leadership, dedication, and commitment towards the activities of the WGHA during
the past year(s).

Nomination: I greatly admire the nominees ability to deal with difficult situations and issues with an unbias
attitude and with a 'best solution for everyone' approach. She does so much behind the scenes
that so many people are unaware of and puts in so much time to this association to make it run
smoothly but also look for ways we can improve and always do better

Recipient: Holly Bast

Fan of the Year

Given to someone who comes out to many games and cheers on the Wolverines in a positive
and enthusiastic manner or someone who contributes to the organization in a special way. This
could be a parent, grandparent, friend, or family member of any player within the Wolverine
family.

Nomination: This person attends almost all games whether they are on the road or at home. He often
attends tournaments and cheers on the entire team. He even came to her games when his
family members were on a holiday in Florida. He also generously donates valuable training
equipment to help out with practices.
