It has been a great season and the players have really progressed as evidenced in the fun scrimmages and in the inter-squad games. Everyone wants to touch the puck when they are on the ice. After today, our last inter-squad scrimmage will be Saturday March 25. As every year, our last ice time on Tuesday, March 28 will see the players play the Coaches and helpers to end the season.
More information will follow on year end activities and awards in April as the Association finishes the celebration of its 10th year and unveils the new Wolverines jersey.

Now that the Firebirds game is over (I hope everyone enjoyed it - the 'Birds do a great job for our organization), we have the Rookie scrimmages beginning with 2 this weekend. Remember they are meant to be fun, everyone will play equal shifts (lines will just roll), scoring is not kept or in fact not even important.
But the players do have a chance to pursue and carry the puck and put the individual skills they have learned into a game like situation. The players always enjoy themselves but we have not forgotten that skill development is still the key goal of this level, especially during our Tuesday ice times.

It is always a lot of fun for our players to play in between the 1st and 2nd periods at the Firebirds game and the Firebirds organization always treats us well. Please be at the arena by 7:15 to put your players equipment in the change room by the Firebirds room before the game starts. I will be at the entrance to provide guidance. Players usually get dressed halfway through the 1st period and go on as soon as players leave the ice and before the ice is cleaned. They usually play a free flowing scrimmage for 10 minutes.
The Firebirds offer a tour of the "birds nest" after the ice time and when the Firebirds are back playing for the second period. We have fun and we see the big players play a fast paced game.
