Cripps Tournament Update
The Bantam Wolverines L/L punched their ticket to the Semi-finals by taking their third win of the tournament (fifth in a row), thanks to great offensive plays, but a much more improved defensive play overall.

Ashley Leu started the Wolverines off strong on Thursday afternoon, headlining with her second hat trick of the season!  The tandem of Jillian Chesney and Abbey Luckhardt faced some difficult shots, but with the solid team defence lead by the improved play of Meghan Dale, easily shut out the Kitchener Golden Hawk's 4-0.

The Kitchener Thunderbirds proved a more difficult for the Wolverines, who quickly jumped out to a lead in the game, only to have the Thunderbirds clawing their way back.  The Wolverines penalty kill got plenty of exercise throughout the game with some suspect officiating, but they were able to prevail and take the game 3-2.  MVP Shauna Chesney took the honours with improved responsibility in her own zone and some fantastic back-checking.

Friday would see the Wolverines seal their position at the top of their Pool, in putting the Golden Hawk's down again in another backing checking clinic, combined with some fabulous goaltending.  The Golden Hawk's were determined not to roll over as they had the previous day and played the ladies strong.  The JAC line (Jess, Ashley and Cass V) lead the team offense in marking all three goals, with Jess Leiskau taking the MVP honours for her complete game control and domination at the face off circle winning all her draws.

The Wolverines finish off the round robin with a fourth game Saturday afternoon, a warm up to the evening semi-final at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex, Kiwanis Pad at 7:30 pm.  If any Wolverines are in town and wanting to cheer them on the support would be appreciated!
