Wilmot Wolverines Peewee B Score Silver
The Wilmot Wolverines Peewee B girls’ hockey team had a successful showing at the Whitby Tournament of Hero’s, held Dec 1-3, coming home with the silver medal.  

 

The team played a 3 game round robin, winning two of the three games, to place second in their pool. The first game against Nepean was a close 2-1 loss, followed by a 3-0 win versus Leaside and a 4-0 victory against West Northhumberland. Goal scorers in the round robin were; Ada Bender (1), Maeve Campbell (2), Rachel Ellig (1), Kya Gallian (1), Lexi James (1), and Morgan Yantzi (2). Assists went to Oceana Nelson (2), Lyndsay Dajka (1), Sykora Waechter (1), Rachel Ellig (2), Lexi James (2), and Maeve Campbell (1). Goaltender Eva Collins earned 2 shut-outs.  

The Wolverines faced Leaside again in the semi-final game. This game ended in a 1-1 tie. However, based on total points in the tournament, Wilmot was able to advance to the final game. Goal scorer in the semi-finals was Rachel Ellig, assisted by Alyssa Gingerich and Oceana Nelson.   The Championship game saw the Wolverines once again facing a strong Nepean team. While the Wolverines skated hard and kept pace with Nepean much of the game. Despite their hard work, the Wolverines gave up 3 early goals, which Nepean held onto to take the victory. However, the Wolverines proudly accepted their silver medals in front of a large crowd of supporters.  

The Peewee B team members are; Ada Bender, Maeve Campbell, Eva Collins, Lyndsay Dajka, Rachel Ellig, Kya Gallian, Alyssa Gingerich,  Natasha Honderich, Lexi James, Oceana Nelson, Kristen Segeren, Sykora Waechter and Morgan Yantzi. Coaching staff includes; Matt Campbell, Ian Collins, Brad Ellig, Duane Gingerich, Steve Dajka, Rob Waechter, Heather Gallian and Penny Collins.
