The Holidays with family skating available is a good time to get extra skating in. The more skating the player does, the better they will be at playing hockey. Although they can not use a puck and stick at public skating, they can wear their lower equipment or even full equipment, including pants and socks to give them practise skating for hockey.
Just after the holidays, Saturday's scrimmages will be expanded to 15-20 minutes full ice and we will be giving the players a chance to play net and be a goalie. This will prepare us for the start of Rookie games and the Firebirds game Saturday January 24.

Rookie Games start with a game Sat Jan 24 at the WRC against Woolwich. We have games set for Feb 14 and March 1 with additional games possible in Feb and March.
This scrimmages are with other centres but they are meant to be fun. We do not post scores, shifts are changed with buzzer every 2 minutes, coaches are on the ice to assist and all girls just rotate unto the ice. The only faceoff is taken at centre ice at the beginning of a shift. The girls enjoy these days and parents too but the emphasis is on fun and "going for the puck."
Dates will show up on the calendar shortly.
