2024-2025 Development Stream (DS) Opportunity

We are exploring options to field a Development Stream (DS) Team at the U11 level. All U11 players would be welcome to register to try out for the DS team.  Please note this team is above and beyond your current Local League team and cannot interfere with games, tournaments and practices for that team. The following are details on how the DS season would look:

  • 2 Evaluation Skates – must register and pay for evaluation skate (deadline early November 2022).  Tryout fee is $25 payable upon registration.  Tryout dates – to be scheduled for late November/early December.  You must register and attend these evaluations to be considered for the team.

  • 4-6 practices – please note, this is ice additional to your regular team’s ice and is additional ice that needed to be sourced to form this team.  There will be some of each to fit in 4-6 practice slots and fit in with your regular team’s game, tournament and practice times.

  • 6-8 exhibition games - *practices and exhibition games cannot be scheduled until after December 1st

  • up to two tournaments - to be decided by DS coaching staff – there are limited DS tournaments, these could possibly be overnight tournaments dependent on availability. Some examples:

    • Orangeville 45th Annual Sweetheart Tournament Jan24th-26th (4 games guaranteed) $1495
    •  Guelph Spring Classic Tournament – Mar21st-23rd (3 games guaranteed) $1200

If your daughter is interested in trying out for the DS team, please complete the Intent to Register form by November 3rd so we can assess the interest level.

If there is enough interest, we will send out more information for registration for the season, practice dates, etc.

At this time, we are trying to determine if there is enough interest in this program. Please note, this DS opportunity will be dependent upon:

1. Being able to secure the additional ice time we would require for this program. This could be ice time at the WRC, or at a neighbouring facility.

2. Having a coaching staff (with the required certifications) interested in taking on the leadership of the team.  If interested in being a coach or trainer please contact our Staff Certification Director or fill out an on-line application available on the Wolverines website.

Estimated cost is $235 per player to cover costs related to extra practices, exhibition games, insurance, game officials, etc.  The cost of the tournament(s) selected by the coaching staff would be in addition to this cost.
