Head Coach Profile U13 Tier 1 - Meet Ian Rutherford
Coach Ian is proud to be joining the U13 Tier 1 program as Head Coach for the 2026-27 season. Starting his competitive coaching in 2021, Ian has earned a reputation for developing players and building competitive, team-first programs.
Most recently, he served as Head Coach of the U11B Wolverines, claiming a tournament championship, reaching three additional finals, and qualifying for Provincials.
Before joining the Wolverines, Ian coached A-level hockey with the New Hamburg Huskies for several seasons, building a strong foundation in player development and team growth. His love for the game is contagious and you can still find him playing today.
Coach Ian believes in creating a competitive structured environment where players are challenged to reach their full potential. While competing at a high level is important, he believes hockey is a powerful way to teach teamwork, perseverance, leadership and sportsmanship. By fostering a strong team culture, Ian aims to help players build confidence, resilience, and leadership that extends beyond the rink.
"We want to build a team that works hard, supports one another, and commits to getting better everyday. That's the standard we'll set as Wolverines. I'm excited to get started with this group and see what we can accomplish together. Go Wolverines Go!"
