After a very successful regular and playoff season the
Wilmot Wolverines Novice B team will compete in both the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League Championship
tournament and the Provincial Championship
tournament over the next two weekends. The team played in a division that included the Waterloo
Ravens, Woolwich Wild, Guelph Junior Gryphons, Cambridge Roadrunners and the
Grand River Mustangs. They had a 15-3-4
record which saw them
tied for first place in points,
but a tie breaker (total wins) would land the Wolverines in second place.
The team started Provincial play down round robin series with a loss to the Cambridge Roadrunners, but would bounce back to qualify for the provincial tournament with five straight wins to finish the round robin provincial qualifier in first place. The Wolverines earned their way to LLFHL Championship Weekend by winning series against the Waterloo Ravens, the Guelph Jr. Gryphons and the Cambridge Roadrunners. They meet up with North Halton Twisters, Durham West Lightning and Peterborough Ice Kats at Championshiip Weekend April 1-2 to decide the overall champion.
The team has posted an overall record of 53-5-4 this season when you include exhibition, tournament, regular season and post season games.
