Hard Work Beats Talent
The B-W Feed & Seed Atom B Wolverines have a motto - they have been following it since the beginning of the year. "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard." The girls know this motto will lead them to success this year, and so far, it is working. The Atom B team is undefeated in regular season play.
On the weekend, the girls outplayed and outscored Woolwich 6-0, a tough team from Kitchener 2-1, and then finished off a busy week with a win against Ancaster 6-0. The team is known for speed and hard work, but are beginning to learn how to pass to teammates and work as a unit. Goaltending has been key as well with two solid net minders Alisha Latyn and Emily Jantzi. Both have been working on focus and getting the paddle down to avoid the dreaded five hole goals. Special mention to their goalie coach Leslie Morton for her work. The small but mighty line of Paige Jurica, Mikayla O'Connell and Olivia Lichti has turned it up a notch by playing positionally better, and digging in the corners. Strong returning rep players Paige Carter, Jenna Kumpf and Lauren Bast continue to provide major offense for the Wolverines and their game sense is solid. The hound line of Sydney Knorr, Brianna Arends and Sierra Egli wear down the opponents with aggressive play and sound backchecking. Finally, the defensive team of Kayla Schenk, Lindsay Slessor, Carson Weiler, Rayne Belanger and Bella Davidson is doing their job by tightening up at the blue line and pinching when needed. With more game experience, the D are gaining confidence in their skills and are showing more comfort with each other.
The Wolverines look forward to a game this week against Seaforth, and will see a tough team from Waterloo on Sunday at home. GO WOLVERINES!
