The Wilmot Wolverines made history this weekend! The girls are the first Wilmot Wolverine team to ever win an A tournament!
In the first game they played the Kitchener Rangers! Maeve Turner scored 2 goals, 1 which was assisted by Grace Mohr! Kasey Bater scored an amazing goal to make the score 3-0!
In the second game we versed the Guelph Gryphons. Kasey Bater scored a goal assisted by Grace Mohr and Sydney Henhoeffer. Maeve Turner scored a great goal. The Wolverines ended up tieing 2-2.
In game 3, the North Halton Twisters lost 3-0. The first goal was scored by Morgan Yantzi, another by Kasey Bater, and the last goal was scored by Maddy Henheoffer and assisted by Maeve Turner.
Game 4 was versus Kingston Ice Wolves. First goal was scored by Grace Mohr. Leah McPhee did score but after calling it a goal the goal was called off. Kasey Bater scored an amazing second goal! We won 2-0!
During game 5 versus the London Devilettes the score ended up 6-0 for us. Kasey Bater scored 3 goals. They were assisted by Kara Mcphee (our goalie), Megan Haid, Anushka Jawkar and Melanie Austin. Another 2 goals were scored by Maeve Turner, one assisted by Kasey Bater. Maddy Henhoeffer scored one great goal!
Excited, we skated into the finals versus the North Halton Twisters! “Wahoo,” the fans went as Kasey Bater skated down the ice to score! We were in the lead. Once again, Emily West was shooting amazing shots on net. Then Megan Peacock, assisted by Melanie Austin scored with a rebound! Jaden Greenlee always back checked hard and helped out the defence. The scoreboard read 2-0, as the buzzer went off. The crowd cheered and the team hugged at the crease congratulating our goalie for a successful tournament! The team were surprised with joy when they received a gold medal and a brand new Bauer stick. Kasey Bater was named tournament MVP and received a new pair of Bauer skates!
Mary Lencz and Kara McPhee were on fire this weekend in our net! They made amazing slides and saves to help the team win!
Overall the girls played awesome! They came out and made Wolverine history! Go Girls!
