On the road to Fergus - Semi-Finals
The Wolverines played their semi-final game today against the Grand River Mustangs. The girls knew that this was an important game and came out playing hard. Alisha Layton was in net for the Wolverines. After the last match with the Mustangs the team realized it would need to change some things up in order to pull off a win against the undefeated Grand River team. Shots were exchanged, the defence hustled and the forwards put pressure on their defence and the score remained 0-0 for most of the first period. Late in the first the Wolverines scored to lead 1-0 with a goal by Jenna Caslick. The girls were thrilled! During the second period the girls continued to work hard however the Mustangs were able to score 2 goals to lead 2-1 at the end of the second.

The Wolverines were not about to give up and came out to play in the third period. They had many shots on goal and certainly made the Mustangs work hard. Even after the Grand River team scored in the third the girls kept trying. We had a scramble in front of their net and it looked like we would get one in but the Mustang goalie held strong. Even with our goalie pulled and the extra attacker out we ran out of time. The game ended 3-1. We are all very proud of the effort and hard work the girls demonstrated today. They really came together as a team and played a great game. They should be proud of themselves too. What a great season!
