Atom LL#1 Wolverines closeout the regular season schedule
The Atom LL#1 Wolverines played the final three games of the regular season schedule with the calendar flipping over to March.

The Wolverines travelled to Fergus for the final meeting of the season against Grand River 2.  The Wolverines came to play on the sunny Saturday afternoon recording a 4-0 shutout over the host team.  Goals would be scored by Teagan (2) and Olivia B (2) with assists going to Claire, Emmie, Rowyn (2), Charlee, and Audrey.

The Wolverines would then play host to Cambridge on Sunday.  This game would represent important points for both teams in determining final seeding positions.  After almost a full period of tight play both ways, Rowyn would find the back of the net just before the end of the 1st period with assists by Faith and Olivia B.  Cambridge would not be deterred through the second and third and would finally score on a screened shot with only 1:53 remaining in the game.  The game would end in a 1-1 tie and would pretty much lock up the 4th semi-final playoff spot for Cambridge.

The final game of the regular season schedule would see the LL#1 team square off against the LL#2 Wolverines.  While our team has held the advantage in the win column this season (4-0), every game has proved to be a really close affair with no more than a 3-goal differential.  Our team would strike only a minute into the game when Rowyn connected with Emmie in front of the opponents net to give us the 1-0 advantage.  The opposing team would score the equalizer early in the second period and then the go ahead goal with only 1:12 remaining in regulation.  Our team would pull the goalie for the extra attacker in an attempt to score the tying goal, however, the opponent would force a turnover and put it into the empty cage for a 3-1 final.

The Atom LL#1 Wolverines will play their semi-final game against Ayr #1 later this month.  The Wolverines hold the advantage from regular season play (1-0-1), however both games have been extremely close and it is expected that we will have to leave it all out there in this match up.

Let’s Go Wolverines!!
