After a well fought semi-final the Wilmot
Wolverines LL2 Team traveled to Sportsworld Arena to face Cambridge
White in the Pool A championship game. The
Wolverines took an early lead as number 24 Ada Bender scored an
unassisted goal just 24 seconds into the game to make it 1-0 for
Wilmot. The defense made up of Kasey Livingstone, Claire Weinacht, Olivia
Burns, Emily Friendorf and Aziza Pringle along with goaltender Juliana Baptie
did great job of limiting the scoring chances for the strong players
on the Cambridge team.
The Wolverines would hold the lead for almost half the game but Cambridge would tie the game at the mid point of the second period. The Wolverines had a few chances to take the lead including a loud ringer off the goal post by Kasey Livingstone but the team was unable to take the lead. With just over three minutes left in regulation Cambridge White struck again to take the lead 2-1.The Wolverines countered by pulling the goalie in the final minutes to get the extra attacker on the ice in an attempt to tie the game but they were unsuccessful and Cambridge White won the game 2-1. Over the two game playoffs the Wolverines saw great offensive pressure from the forward group that included Faith Appleton, Raelyn Cook, Bronwyn Brietenstein, Ada Bender, Emmi Fronchak, Tori Buchatzki, Audrey Montag, Olivia Patte and Paige Yoworski.
