Novice LL2 Reach Semi Finals
The Wilmot Wolverines Novice LL2 took part in the Jason Cripps tournament over the weekend.  The team had an early start for game one as they traveled to the frozen tundra that is the Don McLaren Arena for a 7am start against the Woolwich Wild. The Wolverines seemed wide awake in this match up as goals from Claire Weinacht, Ada Bender, Olivia Burns and Paige Yoworski led to a 7-0 win.  Assists in this game went to Emmie Fronchak, Raelyn Cook and Ada Bender.  The forward line that featured Tori Burchatzki, Bronwyn Brietenstein and Raelyn Cook helped sustain the offensive pressure in this game.  For post-game comments from Olivia Burns click here

Wilmot would face Cambridge Teal in game two.  Juliana Baptie recorded her second straight shutout and Ada Bender and Claire Weinacht scored two goals each in this 4-0 victory.  Assists went to Faith Appleton and Emmie Fronchak.  The defence, made up of Aziza Pringle, Emily Friendorf, Claire Weinacht and Olivia Burns did a great job of keeping the puck in the offensive zone and keeping the opposition off the scoreboard for the second straight game.  For post-game comments from Olivia Patte and Emily Friendorf click here.

The Wolverines played a strong and exciting game in their final matchup of the round robin. The Grand River Mustangs would score the first goal of the game in the second period and would hold that 1-0 lead until 2:13 remaining in the third period.  Ada Bender tied the game and then scored the game winner (assisted by Raelyn Cook and Paige Yoworski) just 27 seconds later.  The grinding forward line of Audrey Montag, Faith Appleton and Olivia Patte also deserves an honourable mention in this game.  For post game comments from Kasey Livingstone click here

If the parents didn’t get enough excitement in game three, the semi final match sure delivered.  The Wolverines found themselves down 2-0 after the first period of this game against the Kitchener Pandas.  Kasey Livingstone played strong in net to keep the game within two and with 4:47 remaining in the second Claire Weinacht (assisted by Raelyn Cook) would cut the deficit to one and Ada Bender (assisted by Olivia Burns) would tie the game before the end of the second period.  Olivia Patte chose an exciting time to score her first goal of the season as she put the team up 3-2 with 5:35 remaining in regulation. Patti’s goal was assisted by Juliana Baptie and Olivia Burns.  Kitchener would tie the game just 20 seconds later and force overtime.  The Wolverines dominated offensive zone possession over the 5 minute OT but the team was unable to score and eventually Kitchener would win the game in a shootout.   Click herefor comments from Faith Appleton and Emmie Fronchak
