Commanding Win heading into the Finals
The Peewee LL team knew they had to play their best against a very close matched Grand River team.  During the regular season the head to head scores were always close with Wilmot winning 2 of the 3 games.  So the semi final game could easily go to either team.  It would come down to who was more hungry for the win.

The Wolverines started the game off strong by controlling the puck and keeping the play in the Grand River end. Corissa Bilodeau didn't take long to weave through the opponents defense and net the opening goal just 1:50 into the first period.

Wilmot continued to shutdown the Grand River offense with excellent defense from Abigail Zalac, Kirsten Bolding, Payge Schlosser, Hailley Norman, Cassandra Honderich and Morgan Ernest.  Along with strong back checking from Corrissa, Quinn Rison and Sarah Frank, the Grand River players had their pocket's picked numerous times.

It wasn't until 2:00 into the 2nd Period that Sarah found the "5 hole" from a very tough angle to make it 2-0. Wilmot kept the pressure going through out the period with Kayla Dickie, Ravynn Livy, Morgan Bard and Rachel Gruhl each having excellent scoring chances that just missed. Quinn netted the puck with 4:35 left in the second to give a nice 3-0 lead going into the 3rd period.

Grand River was by no means giving up, Wilmot goal tender Lauren Watters had to make a number of big saves to keep the Mustangs from getting on the board.

Alana Miller added an insurance goal from behind the net and 4 Grand River players all over her early in the 3rd period.  Danielle Brodrecht added another insurance goal on the power play to make it a 5-0 game.

Everyone played their best hockey of the season and the final scored showed it.  It's now off to the finals on Sunday March 29 against the other Grand River team, Grand River Mustangs #2.

Good Luck Girls!  Let's Go Wolverines!!!!!
