Belmont Blazers Tournament
What a weekend for the Pee Wee LL#2 team. I must start off by thanking all the parents for making the weekend a fun and successful one for all the girls. Even with the weather and the early morning Sunday game and the referee delay, there were high spirits exhibited by everyone through out the course of the tournament. I could even hear the parents cheering from the bleachers.

I would like to recognize all the girls for their wonderful efforts put forward,  Great Job Girls! I am very proud of you all.

Game 1 : LL#2 vs London Devillettes Preditors; While the score indicated a 3-0 los for LL#2 this game was very close. MVP of the game nominated by London went to Suzanne Mooser with a great effort between the pipes. Suzanne also captured the player of the game award nominated by her coaching staff. Hard Hat award went to Mare Prober for her speed up front and on the back end. Smartie award winner Abby Bender played another solid game on D.

Game 2 : LL#2 vs London White; Could it have been the poutine? LL#2 came up against a very quick London squad and in the end it showed losing 6-1.  Our MVP as voted by London - Mare Prober, our Hard Hat player of the game and highlight real goal scorer...Katelyn Yantzi, player of the game as voted by coaching staff, Kate Duckworth and for the second game in a row, Smartie award winner Abby Bender who was able to prevent another goal with her quick stick and clear the zone.

Game 3 : LL#2 vs Bad Blazers; The Bounce Back. Facing off against an undefeated Blazer team LL#2 set the pace of the game right away which lead to Shelby Page  scoring the opening goal on an assist from Kate Duckworth. Close to the end of the second period with the Blazers pressing  the score was soon tied up at 1's and the tension built from there. In the end LL#2 handed the Blazers a 1-1 with stellar goal tending from Mare Prober and MVP. Player of the game was award to Olivia Bender who play a great game, moving the puck up the ice and out of our end. Hard hat award winner Alana Miller our grinding center and Smartie award winner Payge Schlosser for her presence of mind to stand the Blazers up at the blue line and strip the puck from their sticks.

Game 4 : LL#2 vs  Petrolio Oilers; Bye Bye Monkey, Hello Wil Mot! Sunday morning 8 am, who wants to play hockey an hour and a half away; LL#2 Pee Wee sure does and the arrived to shake their monkey. Faced with the bad road conditions, a time clock and referee delay the Wolverines captured their first victory of the season 1-0 over Petrolia. Maybe it was the 10 minute scrimmage game prior to the referee's arrival in which Katelyn Yantzi scored a beautiful goal that gave them the belief that this was their day. In the end the two teams matched up extremely well and the game remained scoreless until 2:52 of the 3 rd period when off a face off win Shelby Page advanced the puck to a streaking Katherine Duckworth who buried a slap shot behind the Petrolia goaltender. That was all the Wolverines needed to free their mascot.

MVP of the game as awarded by Petrolia Kate Duckworth, Hard hat Player of the game also awarded to Kate, Smartie award winner Suzanne Mooser for her great play on the blue line and believe that it was "I Frankenstein " that served her well. Player of the game as awarded by the coaching staff, Morgan Bard. Awesome game Morgan you really stepped it up today!

A great job by all, now lets carry it into the rest of the season!

Go Wolverines!!!
