Peewee C's reach Semi-Finals at the Orillia Hawks Tournament
The Wilmot Wolverine Peewee C team followed last week's big 3-1 win over 1st place Twin Centre by putting in a strong performance at the Orillia Hawks Tournament.  The Wolverines started off against Peterborough and spent most off the game in the Peterborough zone but didn't capitalize on the offensive zone pressure until the first minute of the 3rd period when Marley O'Connell opened the scoring with assists by Romy Van Rooyen and Avery Vance.  Taryn McIntyre put the finishing touches on the 2-0 win when she scored midway through the 3rd period (assisted by Kate Baumgart).

In game 2 the Wolverines faced Temiskaming and took a 1-0 lead thanks to a Marley O'Connell goal (assist by Kara Cook and Kate Baumgart). Off the ensuing face-off Taryn McIntyre took the puck into the Temiskaming zone and scored an unassisted goal that put Wilmot up 2-0.  Only 6 seconds separated the two goals.  Temiskaming would pull within one in the 3rd but Kamryn Lamond would score a short time later (assisted by Leah Wagler and Kate Baumgart) and Wilmot went on to win the game 3-1.

After a loss to Twin Centre in the final game of the round robin the Wolverines found themselves in second place in the pool and moved on to the semi-final to face Stratford.  This Stratford team beat the Wolverines handily in an earlier tournament but this game proved to be a different story.  Tied at 0-0 into the third Stratford scored at the mid point of the period.  The Wolverines had many quality chances, including several in the dying minutes with the goalie pulled, but couldn't capitalize.  The game ended 1-0 for Stratford.

Off the ice the girls enjoyed an evening of tubing at Horseshoe Valley, swimming and a potluck dinner.  It was a great tournament on and off the ice for the players and their families.
