Carter on Fire!!
After a nail-biting overtime win 5-4 versus the West Huron Wave, the B-W Feed & Seed Atom B Wilmot Wolverines clinched their spot and are deemed the Central West Division Lower Lakes Female Hockey League champs.  The Wolverines will go on the Championship weekend tournament in Mississauga next weekend where they will face the best of the league.

In front of a huge home-town crowd, the girls came out flying, and dominated the play.  The Wolverines had a lead of 2-0 after the first period.  Lauren Bast dug one in early in the first, then Paige Carter roofed a shot over the goalie to give the Wolverines what seemed like a secure lead.  Carter gave the Wilmot team a three goal lead early in the second but the Wave did not give up and came back tough in the second scoring three goals to tie the game.

Middle of the third saw Carter with the puck again as she fired another one in to gain the lead again.  With only 36 seconds left in the game, the Wave knocked a loose rebound in and the game ended in a tie 4-4.  Everyone was on the edge of their seats as the five minute overtime period began.

With only 40 seconds into play, Carter had the puck again and to the delight of the fans, scored her fourth goal of the game to give the Wolverines the victory!  The WRC went absolutely crazy and the team was elated.  The coaching staff breathed a sigh of relief!

The Wolverines will begin play on Friday in Mississauga and hope to bring home the Championship to Wilmot.  Their team motto, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."  Good luck to our girls and Go Wolverines!
