Congratulations to the Bantam L/L Wolverines for making the 'A' division playoffs!
The Bantam L/L Wolverines stormed back strong Sunday morning after suffering only their third loss of the regular season on Saturday afternoon.  Posting her second shut out, the team rallied on the hot hand of goaltender Jillian Chesney to a 3-0 win.  Their twelfth point of the season secured a position in the 'A' division playoff race which begins Dec 19th.

A bright spot in the game vs the undefeated Waterloo Ravens, came from MVP Josie Fronchak who stepped up on defense, playing with grit and determination in keeping the high flying Ravens offence to a minimum.  Though the Wolverines lost, the game was a lot closer than the 4-1 score reflected as the Ravens goalie was tested often before surrendering only her fifth goal of year.

The Wolverines then retreated to a team building session/party at the Fronchak's to re-group and enjoy each others company away from the rink.  Some group games were had, some pool was played, the Homer Simpson pinball machine rocked (nice shrine you have going there Dan!) and who can forget the Rock Band action and some fantastic/not so fantastic renditions of 80's and 90's rock that their parents just loved!  It was just what the team needed to bounce back on Sunday, playing their best game to close out the regular season.

Several players could have won Player of the Game on Sunday, but it was her constant back checking effort, hard work and great positional play combined with a near goal that brought Meghan Dale the highest accolades from the coaching staff.

Another season's best came from Shauna Chesney who was solid on wing and showed a whole lot of hustle on the back check and covering her points in her own end.  Ashley Leu showed that as well as playing a great offensive game scoring a goal, that she can also be responsible in her own end helping out her defenders who had their best game of the season.  Captain Jess Leiskau showed a whole lot of heart and determination playing through the flu and getting rocked hard in the third by scoring two markers to seal the win.

Highlighting a great game on defence and clearing out the front of the net so that Jillian could do her job, kudos to Brittany Carey, Brooke Debeau, Josie Fronchak, Kira Larochelle and Anna Wagler who took up the coaches challenge and kept the second chances to a minimum.  By far the best defensive game this season!

Housekeeping notes.

The playoff's may begin as soon as Wednesday December 19th.  Please pay attention to the schedule over the next few weeks for changes, but hopefully they will be kept to a minimum.

This Saturday December 15th practice which there was discussion of moving it to an earlier slot in the afternoon, will be taking place at our normal time at 5:30 pm followed by Tuesday Dec 18 at 9 pm.

Our exhibition game at Lucan on Sunday December 23 at 5:20 pm is confirmed.

The Cripps Tournament schedule has been posted on this web site and will be monitored for any changes.  We are in the "C" pool where we will be playing the Kitchener Golden Hawks and Kitchener Thunderbirds two games each.  The winner goes on to the semi finals on Saturday December 29 evening and the Finals will follow on Sunday Dec 30 in the afternoon.

A reminder that if you haven't completed your Team survey that was e-mailed to you by the Development Director Holly Bast, please do so as soon as possible as the deadline has been extended for only a short period of time.

C U at the rink!
