Wolverines Dancing Into the Holidays
The Wilmot Optimist Atom C Wolverines had a terrific week with a win versus Twin Centre and a tie with a much-improved team from Woolwich.  Madison Stainer-Mace is finding the back of the net as she dunked one in against the Hericanes, and then two against the Wild.  Great passing is starting to make a difference.  The Wolverines are dancing their way into the holidays with a team fundraising event on Friday, December 21 from 7-10 pm.

In the game versus Twin Centre, the Wolverines were stoned several times by tough net-minder Kara Mark.  Wilmot persevered and Stainer-Mace, Sierra Egli and Kate Baumgart were able to cash.  The final score was 3-1 with a terrific effort from both teams.  Brianna Arends worked extremely hard and Egli was outstanding.  Special congrats to Hailey Norman as she covered the posts for the Wolverines with regular goalie Alisha Latyn out due to illness.  Julia James was solid on defense for the Wolverines nominated as player of the game.

The Woolwich Wild has been working hard and their efforts are paying off.  Coach Scott Dietrich has a tough group of girls, and they took a lead 2-0 over the Wolverines early in the game.  Finally, Stainer-Mace knocked one in, and shortly after cashed again to keep Wilmot in the game.  Egli scored the final Wolverine goal to tie the game 3-3.  Great passing from line mates Lindsay Slessor and Carson Weiler.  Leah Wagler was a constant hustler and very effective.  Stainer-Mace's aggressive presence in front of the net earned her the title of player of the game.

The Wolverines invite students from grades 4-8 to their fundraising BREAKAWAY Dance on Friday, December 21 from 7-10 pm.  Limited tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any team member, or at the door.  Food donations will be accepted for the Food Bank, with a chance to win a tablet for every item brought.  A donation will be made to the Angel Tree with proceeds.  For more information, visit the Wolverine website under listed upcoming events.
