The B-W Feed & Seed/Stitch Graphix Atom B girls finished off a busy week off hockey, walking away with two victories.
On Wednesday, the Wolverines hosted the St. Mary’s Rock. After a pre-game challenge to create more
action in front of the opponent’s net, the Wolverines came out flying and sent
a clear message to the Rock that they were hungry for the win. With just over a minute into the game, the
Wolverines took the lead with a beauty goal from Taryn McIntyre, assisted by
Hailey Scott and Julia Kehl. Skating hard and dominating the play, the
Wolverines would add their second goal to the scoreboard from fast-skating Madison
McCormick. The third period would see the Wolverines secure the victory with a
goal from Scott assisted by McIntyre, and an unassisted goal from Meghan Young.
Gillian Knarr, with the help of a strong defensive squad, added another
shut-out to the season’s accomplishments.
On Saturday the Wolverines travelled to Sarnia to face the undefeated
Jr. Lady Sting. Despite some logistical
confusion and a late game start, the Wolverines came out and skated hard. While the match ended with a 2-0 win for the
Sting, the Wolverines showed determination in playing as a cohesive unit and using
the system they have worked hard on. The
girls should be proud of their efforts.
In their final match of the week, the Wolverines hosted the
Windsor Wildcats on Sunday afternoon. For the second time this week, the
Wolverines stepped up and seized control of the game quickly, and were on the
scoreboard just a minute into the game. Paige Carter was an unstoppable force earning
two goals and an assist in the game. Madison Oliver would add to the Wolverines
lead when she buried the puck deep on a powerful end to end skate. Young added two additional goals for the Wolverines,
with Emily Hussey and McIntyre earning assists.
Way to go Wolverines!
