Novice B Wins Gold in Clarington
It was an action packed weekend in Clarington as the Novice
B’s worked hard and brought home the gold!
In their first game they defeated the Clarington Flames 4-0
in a hard fought battle. It was a tie game going into the third period when Emma Schweitzer put one past the
Clarington net minder to open the scoring. Syd Petzke followed up with a goal
shortly after. The girls were on a roll! Two minutes later Paige Jurika scored,
Mikayla O’Connell rounded out the scoring. The first shut-out of many was
recorded by goalie Kaitlyn Roberston AKA “The Wall”!
Game two the girls lost a hard fought battle to the Belleville Bearcats. Paige =Jurica and Kassia Deep recorded the goals for the Wolverines. A tough loss for the girls. An early morning start on Saturday had us playing the Whitby Wolves. After a loss on Friday afternoon the girls worked hard as a team and came out on top winning 5-1. The first goal was scored by O’Connell with a great pass from Rayne Bowden. Shortly after Sarah Schnarr scored for the Wolverines. In the second period the girls scored again with a great shot from Jurica, and another from Leah Yantzi. In the third period the last big goal of the game was scored by Petzke. Coaching staff was very proud of the way the girls bounced back from a tough loss. Later that day the girls met up with the Grand River Mustangs. They were on fire! Another shut-out for Goalie “The Wall” Robertson as the team won 7-0! Two goals were recorded in the first period from Schnarr and Jurica. The second period brought us three goals from O’Connell, Yantzi and Schnarr. In the third period another goal was scored by Alexis James with some great digging out front of the net. A big rush from defense Jadyn Calder rounded out the scoring.! Another great team effort! Yet another early morning game on Sunday brought us to game 2 against the Whitby Wolves inthe Semi-Finals. The girls came out very strong and recorded a 5-0 win. Great goals scored by Jurica and Schnarr. Excellent team effort and constant pressure from all players kept the Whitby Wolves contained. Yet another shut-out recorded from goalie “The Wall” Robertson with strong defence from Isabella Davidson, Sydney Chapman, Jayden Calder and Rayne Bowden. The girls found themselves up against the Belleville Bearcats who previously beat them on Friday afternoon for the Championship Game! The girls played hard and worked as a team winning GOLD with a score of 3-1!! First goal scored by O’Connell with assist from Deep. In the third period Calder scored on a great rush from the point to put us up2-1. Shortly after O’Connell scored with a great pass from Sydney Chapman.The Wolverines came out on top as Champs!
