Peewee HL Wolverines Rack Up First Win!
In their second game of the Jason Cripps Memorial House League Christmas Tournament, the Wilmot Peewee HL Wolverines were thrilled to rack up their first win of the season in a game against Stratford Aces HL#2.

Jamie Roth set the exciting pace for the game as she ripped off an unsuccessful shot on net in the open seconds of the game. The opening goal came at 4minute mark in the first period with hard shot by Cassie Zehr on a rebound pass from Caley Klaassen. The Wolverine pack held their lead with delicate force until midpoint in the second period with the Aces evened the score.

The hot net-minder Abbey Luckhardt recovered from save after save as the Aces drove to net throughout the rest of the second period. The turning point in the game happened in the third, when on a Stratford rush the puck was rifled at the Wolverine goal and ricocheted from Luckhardt’s skate to her best friend the goalpost. While the Aces waved the sticks in celebration the Wolverine’s realized the goal wasn’t scored. Jaye Foster picked up the rebound and carried the puck the length of the rink to drive at the Aces net. The Stratford goalie made big save on Foster’s shot but Hailey Brunk picked up the rebound and shovelled it in for the 2-1 win.

Coach Jason Zehr, who unfortunately wasn’t able to make the start of the game due to work commitments, was heard from the stands saying: “It seems these girls are giving me my Christmas present a few days late, this win certainly is sweet and long overdue, from the hardest working and deserving Wolverine Pack I know.”
